Christiansted

Christiansted is a beautiful town, filled with great and dynamic people, and a very rich culture. Many people know of the town because NBA icon Tim Duncan was born here.


Between the years of 1755 and 1871, Christiansted was the capital of the Danish West Indies. A beautiful history permeates throughout the city and the history has greatly affected the culture found in Christiansted.


Some sights to see in Christiansted include Fort Christiansvaern, The Steeple Museum, and the Government House. Fort Christiansvaern was built in the 1700s, and remains one of the most magnificently preserved forts in the West Indies. Many people visit the fort to read about the history found inside the fort and to witness it's brilliant architectural integrity. And as an added bonus, the cost of admission is only two U.S. dollars. The Steeple Museum is located across from the entrance of Fort Christiansvaern. The museum had worn down over the years, but since the National Park Service has built it back up to what it once was: an amazing display of Danish architecture. The Government House is another locations you should definitely visit on your trip to Christiansted, and remember to bring your camera or video camera to capture all of the sights and sounds of the city.
